I know alot of people like to get a good tan, but man those things are dangerous. We get enough sun as it is with global warming and the sun. You can get skin cancer and age faster with a bad enough burn, or too much sun. It's much safer to put on sun screen or spray on or rub on tans I think.
Should it be made illegal to have tanning boothes in the U.S.?
I completely agree that tanning booths [and tanning in general] is unhealthy, but I doubt they will ever be made illegal - unfortunetly. This is a society that smokes cancer-giving cigarettes to look cool and injects food poisoning into their skin to look younger.
Its all quiet ridiculous. But more power to pale people, yeah?
Reply:Both of you need to live in a communist country where everything is illegal and you have to stand in a commune line to get your bread(if any is left for your family to get) then come back here and be gratefull B*tches you get to live in a free country( at least, while it still is) Report It
Reply:Um? No.
Reply:Why ????????????????????????????????????????...
there are plenty of things illegal now that should be personal choice!!!!!!
Why try to make it more !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!????????????????????????/
Do you want this turning into a communist country like Russia used to be !?
And what you said is spray or rub on tans are safer. Do that ! Don't worry about everyone else that chooses differently.
Reply:Yeah, and maybe we should ban smoking and driving and guns, and dogs, and knives and large bodies of water because all of those things are dangerous too.
Oh and plastic bags, you can totally suffocate in those things.
Reply:no
Reply:I dont think so
Reply:So do I!
I mean they're ridiculous.
I've never been in one and I plan on not ever going in one.
Plus these people that tan in the winter are retarded. It just looks un-natural and its so obvious that its fake. Tans only look good in spring and summer when you know there's at least a possibility that it's real and came from the sun.
Reply:If you were going to ban those can you imagine what else we'd have to ban?
Reply:What about cigarettes? Cancer sticks and they're not illegal to adults.
Reply:I like militantfairy's answer!
Reply:not really
maybe
Reply:NOOO! I fyou don't like them.. well don't go... let ppl tan if they want to! If they want skin cancer.. good for them. i mean your going to die of something.. you mught as well look good!
Reply:i think you should be more worried you can buy machine guns built with the sole purpose of killing people in supermarkets then about tanning booths i mean are you for real or what
Reply:Jealous people like you with power WOULD make something as lame as tanning beds illegal. Play with your dolls more.
Reply:No. Some people don't get burned in them and tanning salons are required to give advise on how long to stay in.
I would prefer to have the choice.
I don't like to lose rights, no matter what they are.
It's nice for it to at least be legal.
Reply:i think you should look more at making them band smoking than tanning booths...
Reply:no because people should know not to stay in too long if they get skin cancer its there fault
Reply:There are a lot of things in the US that are dangerous. Driving down the street, drinking, smoking, most of the stuff people eat is dangerous, should we ban all those things too???
Reply:Well, I only use a tanning bed because the dermatologist prescribed it for my psoriasis. Get over yourself.
Reply:Illegal to have tanning beds? I guess it should be illegal to go outside and get a tan too? It's totally my business if I want to get a tan, or skin cancer for that matter.
Reply:no saying we should ban a tanning booth is like saying we should ban going out in the sun. u cant control that stuff and why do u care? if people wanna tan let them tan
Reply:Hey cowgirl you need a good tan!
Reply:if i could start over again i never would have tanned AT ALL...i would be like madonna or marcia cross....those women were smart!! mine looks like leather and dry and wrinkly with spots..what a regret!!!!!!!!!thank god i didn't get cancer..yet
Reply:Sure, as soon as the make tobacco and alcohol illegal, or overeating. There are so many things that are harmful to us but we have to make our own decisions.
Reply:no it shouldn't, they should just put labels on them warning people that their likelihood of developing skin cancers increases about 20%...and the fact that 30 mins. in a booth equals a full day at the beach.
then let people make their own decisions
Reply:Or, you can just educate those who don't know, why and how tanning beds are dangerous. If they don't care, then they don't care. If it wasn't a tanning bed, then they'll *gasp* go outside without sunscreen. Chillax. The loudest statement you can make is going au natural yourself.
Reply:Man, if it were up to people like you we would all live in little boxes and never leave them! Because if we left them something bad might happen to us! Grow up and let people make their own decisions, you don't need to answer for anyone but yourself! If you don't like it, don't go!
Reply:Probably... but there's so many other things that can kill you that aren't illegal either. Cigarettes, liquor, fumes from certain chemicals... I mean the list goes on and on.. and with cigarettes and liquor, you choose to use them as well. I think most people know the dangers of tanning beds just like they do cigarettes. I can't lie. I used to smoke and tan. I chose to and knew it was bad. I think it's really up to the consumer to decide what's right for them.
Reply:i have a membership at Planet Tan (BEST indoor tanning there is) and i only go about 3 X per month. I think it is perfecly safe if you keep it low-key. people who go everyday are CRAZY. They have a lot of info at the desk about indoor tanning and if you follow all of the rules, it's safe for the most part. i'm not stupid and i know that i probably shouldn't be going, but it's my life and for right now, i enjoy feeling good about myself when i have a good tan. plus, i'm from texas and sometimes i just dont want to bake outside.
Reply:Tanning beds emit mostly UVA rays to give you a dark tan that will last long and with little UVB rays given off it is less likely you will burn. BUT, the rays given off by a tanning bed are three times the strength the sun!! Prolonged use of tanning beds destroys skin fibers and damages elasticity, all while causing premature aging and wrinkles. So unless you want to look like you are 50 when you are 30 tanning beds are a bad idea.
Reply:I do not think they should ban them. People who tan in those beds know what risk they are taking. leave it up to the them.
