Are fake tans (from a tanning bed) really bad for you?

if so why?

Are fake tans (from a tanning bed) really bad for you?
The dangers of tanning beds is mostly from the UV radiation. UV radiation from the sun, tanning beds, or from sun lamps may cause skin cancer. While skin cancer has been associated with sunburn, moderate tanning may also produce the same effect. UV radiation can also have a damaging effect on the immune system and cause premature aging of the skin, giving it a wrinkled, leathery appearance.

Malignant melanoma, now with a suspected link to UVA exposure, is often fatal, if not detected early. The number of cases of melanoma is rising in the U.S., with an estimated 38,300 cases and 7,300 deaths anticipated this year.
Reply:Well, they're not good for you but it is healthier to gradually build up a base tan than it would be to go straight to the beach and get a sunburn. Tanning beds provide a more controlled environment.
Reply:Hello! I use to know an older woman who Fake Baked on a very regular basis, she had a gorgeous deep bronze tan. Yet her skin looked like leather! Also I've known some other people who have Fake Baked and ended up getting skin cancer. I've included several websites on information concerning tanning beds, read on and judge for yourself. Have a Blessed Day.

Reply:Nothing wrong with leather feeling, orange skin and a little skin cancer on top of it...
