Can you tan in a tanning bed if you are pregnant?

I don't think you can but you should ask you dr first.

Can you tan in a tanning bed if you are pregnant?
You probably wouldn't fit, but if you did, I still wouldn't recommend it.
Reply:I've heard you should not.
Reply:no no no no no and no however now a days they have those tanning creams or tanning wipes, just make sure they don't have vitamin A because that can cause birth defects.
Reply:I am wondering why you care so much about tanning- shouldnt you be caring more about your baby's health?
Reply:NO!!!!!!!!!!! This could hurt your baby!!! Why take the chances? If you want/need to be tan you can use over the counter self tanning products. Hope your pregnancy goes well!
Reply:No. My understanding is you should limit your time in the sun when you are pregnant.
Reply:no!!!!!!!
Reply:No way, don't bake your baby!
Reply:no you can't the uv rays are very dangerous for the baby
Reply:no! dont you have a doctor or something you should be asking.....?
Reply:not unless you want to cook your baby.
Reply:In a Bed: There are no studies that provide conclusive evidence that tanning beds directly harm your baby. However, the following are some ways that tanning beds can be harmful to you. Most health care providers advise against any activity that might raise your body temperature, such as saunas or tanning beds. Overheating is associated with spinal malformations in the baby.

Some studies also link UV rays and folic acid deficiency. Folic acid prevents neural tube defects, such as spina bifida and is especially important in the first trimester. During pregnancy, your skin is more susceptible to burning and chloasma, the dark splotches that appear on the face during pregnancy. Speak to your health care provider about the safety of tanning beds during pregnancy.
Reply:No!! Indoor tanning is dangerous no matter if you are or are not pregnant. Imagine the heat getting to the baby! NO!! They should have signs posted, take a look around to read the warning label.
Reply:I am pregnant to and well i do not think it would be very smart becuase of the heat. Good luck
Reply:no it willgiv u Radiation
Reply:No you cannot...consult with your OB doctor.
Reply:You probably shouldn't, your baby might get a little crispy. (Just kidding about baby) It's not a good idea.
Reply:I was going to be in a wedding so i asked this too, and my doctor told me I could use any kind of topical tanners just stay out of the beds and keep anything out of my mouth (no tanning pills.. I didn't even know they had those but apparently they do).
Reply:No. Please don't even think about it. That is very dangerous for the unborn child.
Reply:Definitly not. Not only is tanning very unsafe for people who aren't pregnant, the heat and UV light can harm your baby. Why put yourself at risk for cancer when you have that wonderful pregnancy glow already?
Reply:Absolutely not. All doctors say NO
Reply:It doesn't sound like a great idea, why not use tanning sprays just to be on the safe side.
Reply:not sure---I wouldnt. as it is there not very healthy and being pregnant makes it worse
Reply:absolutely not.
Reply:NO you can not it can harm the baby as well as yourself please use percautions with all pregnancys
Reply:You can but you would be taking a chance of hurting your unborn baby.
Reply:Please don't. From what I understand it can cause spinal problems in unborn baby and other serious issues. Its not worth the chance. Find a good self tanner and ask Pharmasist or Doctor if its ok.

I have exzema on my hands and had to discontinue using in when pregnant because it could travel through the blood and be harmful to the baby.
Reply:no the radiation could kill the baby.when you take an x ray they ask you if you are pregnant so that you can put on protective gear.
Reply:No way..you should know this!!
Reply:Yes, However most salons won't allow you to b/c of the risks of you falling, fainting, etc. Not b/c you can cook your baby. THAT CAN'T HAPPEN!!! I own a tanning salon. We don't allow pregnant ladies to tan here, but again, that's b/c there is more of a risk of you overheating or slipping and injuring yourself from the outside of the bed. The UV rays don't penetrate past the epidermis of the skin...the risk you take from tannin outdoors or in is overheating. Good luck and Congrats!!!
