Does sunscreen keep you from tanning or just from burning?

I want to get tan without getting burned while using sunscreen. I got burned a little the other day on my shoulders and chest.

Does sunscreen keep you from tanning or just from burning?
It keeps you both from tanning and burning, as it is the shield filtering the UV rays getting into your skin, which is the main cause of your skin getting dark and burnt. The higher degree of the SPF, the more UV rays it filters.

My advice is that you can apply tanning oil with low SPF rating, and expose under a softer sun such as in the morning or late afternoon. The tanning effect is better and you don't get burnt. That's from my personaly experience.

Hope this help!
Reply:Use a low spf like 8 or 15 and it will let you tan. Just make sure you re-apply every couple of hours or you will burn.

Hope I helped!
Reply:yes you can get a tan using sunscreen. if you got a burn you probably need to reapply the sunscreen more often or use something waterproof. it comes off if you are in the water or if you sweat. you should stay out of sun a day or two until that burn turns to tan. the last thing you want to do when you are tanning is to burn , it wrecks your base . you might want to increase your spf if you find you are still getting burns or are staying out extended periods of time in the sun. don't forget to apply moisterizer everynight. happy bronzing :-)
Reply:Go for sun tanning oil instead of sunscreen... It is much more oily so you wont get a burn as easily... but always reapply every now and then cause as you sweat or when you go for a swim it'll get wash away..

Well, after your tanning you should also apply after sun lotion, get those with aloe vera, it's cooling and help cool down your skin...

Have a great summer!!

Enjoy!!
