If so can you suggest a good lotion w/ Bronzer no to little tingle?
Thanks all my Wedding friends...;)
Also getting married in May--I was thinking about starting to tan in March...gradually is better then fast I heard...:) THANKS!
Do you use the tanning bed?
From one plus size gal to another, I feel ya, girl! My favorite is Tao. I also like to use the after tan lotion. I'll use the Tao, tan, wait about an hour, shower, and then use an after tan lotion with hemp in it. It keeps my skin softer and makes the tan more even and last longer. The after tan lotion has no bronzer in it (sorry...I can't remember the brand I use).
Reply:I will be my natural color at my wedding. I learned my lesson long ago and now because of that lesson I have an ugly scar on my forearm which will undoubtedly show up in pictures. Use common sense and skip the tanning bed. If you want to be something other than your natural color, try that spray tan crap.
Reply:nope.
i hear they are worse than the sun. But I don´t know if that is fact or theory.
and congrats :)
Reply:congratulations =)
i try not to go tanning, but its tempting because i dont like looking pale.
but if you go tanning they have great lotions you can use:
heres a list of ones you can buy for what level of tan you want to have:
-Basic tanning accelerator (or step one for Cal. Tan)
Good for light skin types, and those who are just starting to tan. It is going to build a good base tan.
*ex: Secret Rapture, X Speed step 1, Drama Queen, Flaunt, CT7 step 1, Dolce, Tempt, Oracle, Possess, Daddy-O
-Bronzer:
is just going to give you a little extra color. They have a 1 TO 2% of self tanner in them, so make sure to wipe the palms of your hands off after you put it on.
*ex: Worship, Flaunt Bronze, X Bronzer step 2, Smoke Black Bronzer, Love Junkie, Sun Tea, Velvet Nights, Floozy, Faker, Believe
-Dual bronzer (triple and quadruple bronzers too):
These lotions give you the first burst of bronzers while you are tanning, and then you get the 2nd burst about a hour after. So it keeps tanning you.
*ex: Tao, Ray of Light, Bronze bondage, Veritas, Whisper, Bohemia, Almost Famous
-Tingle/Hot Action/Sizzle:
These lotions are going to increase the blood and oxygen flow, giving you really fast and dark results. To sell these lotions tell people, If you are just laying out by the pool and there is someone running without a shirt on, the person running is going to get a faster darker tan b/c their blood and oxygen if flowing. These lotions are going to tingle and make you red for about 1-2 hours after you tan, they also keep tanning you. You shouldn’t take a shower for 1-2 hours after using a tingle, the water is just going to make the heat, tingle, and itchiness 10 times worse!
*ex: Fire Walker, Freak Hot, Smoke Hot, Rock Star, Bombshell, Siren, Surface of the Sun, Tattoo Hot, Smolder, Tempt, Shameless
-Cooling lotions:
These lotions just give you a cool feeling while you are in the bed, it is almost like a mentholated feeling. There are some cooling and tingle lotions (like siren, Arctic Fever) Most cooling lotions also have a bronzer in them.
*ex: Believe, Faker, Rum on the Rocks Chilled, Veritas, Bi-Polar
-Lotions for sensitive skin (hypoallergenic)
Even those customers who have sensitive skin that breaks out easy need to use a lotion. These lotions are specifically made for those with sensitive skin.
*ex: Sheer Wisdom, Naked Truth, Hidden Treasures
-Face lotions:
These lotions are designed just for tanning the face. The skin on your face is different from the skin on your body, so you are going to need a different type of lotion.
*ex: Amazing Face, Vivid, Envy my flawless face, Saving Face, CT7 Face
Reply:I've used them before, and didn't use any lotion. I got a 30-day membership, went every day that I could (starting at 10 mins and working up to 20 in a few days) and had a dark tan that looked liked I'd been on the beach all summer, in less than a month. I tan easily however.
I didn't want to spend the extra $ for a bottle of product I wouldn't use up, and that stuff is expensive (tanning bed lotion). If you feel you need it, ask someone at the salon you'll be using to recommend the best product they carry.
Reply:I tanned for my BF's wedding because our dresses were white (otherwise I wouldnt have done it) It only took 2 times for me to look "healthy" once 6 weeks before for 4 minutes in the booth and then 2 weeks before for 2 minutes in the booth.
Reply:I have a friend who works at a tanning salon and says they can give you worse reactions than if you just tan in the sun outside. I personally don't tan because my grandfather has skin cancer. Even though it's a rare form that sunlight has hardly anything to do with, I've seen what he's gone through and I want to take no risks that I'll ever get it in any way shape or form. I'm a pretty pale person but I don't care. I'd rather be pale than dead. Gradually is probably better if you do decide to tan. A little goes a long way.
Reply:Hi.
I can't recommend a lotion because I don't go to a tanning bed. If you want a little color...that is fine, but don't get too dark! It won't look natural. You want to be yourself on your wedding.
Think Nicole Kidman....look at how white she is and she looks great!
Reply:I use Australian Gold products. Most tanning salons sell tese. Mine has the same formula as the tingle so it gives the same type tan but they have nuetralized it so you don't feel any tingle. I can't remember the name of it but your tanning salon should be able to help you out. All tanning salons have samples you can try also. I think it is important to try these samples to get the best lotion because they aren't cheap and you want to make sure you get one you like. Also I would actually suggest starting in February. the first few weeks you need to take it really light so you won't really start building your tan until the second month.
And I always cover my face in the tanning bed and use Jergens lotion with the bronzing tint in it for faces instead. it is really light and really works. I don't want wrinkles on my face so I am really careful about that.
Reply:I use the Bondage tanning lotion and it works VERY well. It doesn't tingle and it enhances your tanning process. Try it, trust me it is worth the money and you can get it on e-bay for relatively cheap.
Reply:I love to tan. I admit it. I don't do it often, but I love it. It's my own personal carcinogen of choice. I would tan slowly and use a higher level bed. The better (and usually more expensive) beds use different bulbs that will tan you and not burn you. Start slow and build up. I haven't tanned since last summer and I am feeling the urge to do it myself. I have used many different lotions and at each stage of tanning used a different lotion. Ask the salon what the recommend in a price range that you want. I know I have used Australian Gold products before and there is one with a name like Cheeky Brown that has a bit of bronzer in it. I don't really like the bronzer because I inevitably end up with lotion between my fingers and it looks like I've used self tanner. I'm a klutz though! Good luck and have fun!
Reply:I think everyone looks better with a natural looking "glow" and I plan to get one before my wedding as well!!
The best thing you can do to get a tan, is keep your skin very moisturized. So, I've found that my regular moisturizer works as well as any tanning product. I use Jergens Natural Glow every day (the lightest one) and it keeps my skin moisturized, and has a hint of a bronzer. I use this in conjuntion with tanning.
Tanning is included in my gym membership so I go in only 5 mintues per day and maintain a very natural looking glow, not too dark as that just looks fake!
Tanning is damaging to your skin when you burn!! So, going in just a few minutes a time really makes a difference if you start several months out, and does not damage your skin.
Congrats!
Reply:If you go with sunbed instead of spray tan (which is also good) make sure you use a standing up one, not a laying down one. When you lay down the pressure of your skin on the glass makes funny tan lines, not good with a strapless wedding dress!
Reply:if you want a good bronzer I would go with sweet 16 made by brown sugar!!congrats to!!
Reply:Whatever you do, do NOT use a tanning bed. The ultraviolet rays can break existing chemical bonds in your DNA and recombine the broken DNA strands in ways that can be hazardous to your skin cells. Tanning beds are linked to skin cancer. Even if you do not develop skin cancer, skin that has been baked quickly ceases to look healthy - it looks old and leathery. Tanning, even in small amounts, is very unhealthy.
As far as bronzers: a tanning salon may be able to help you with a bronzer. The only one I ever used left weird streaks and came out all uneven and blotchy.
I don't know what your skin tone is, but if you have the kind of fair skin (like mine) that never tans, you'll look weird with the bronzer. If you can get a little bit of natural color, that's the best way to go.
