Can you get skin fungus from tanning beds?
i don't know... never tanned before
Reply:First off its not a fungus .There are several reasons why white spots become noticeable on the body once the tanning process begins: Patches of skin, which do not tan, could be the result of genetic determination. White spots could also appear due to the presence of a fungus, which lives on the skin's surface. While the fungus is harmless, it does absorb UV light, which would normally penetrate the skin. This fungus did not appear as a result of tanning; it merely becomes noticeable once tanning occurs. It can be remedied through the use of prescription drugs or topical lotions. White patches of skin, which are often prominent on the shoulder blades and just above the buttocks, can be caused by pressure from the body as it reclines on a hard tanning bed surface. This pressure inhibits the flow of blood through that area of skin. Since blood carries oxygen, which is essential to the tanning process, this area does not tan. Periodic body shifting during tanning will make these patches disappear. Certain medications can react unfavorable with exposure to UV light.
Reply:i would think it would be possible
Reply:Yes, it probably is a fungus. The white stuff comes from people's hair, even possibly from yours...doesn't mean you are not clean, just something that naturally happens. The red splotches could be something else, like ringworm which is also a fungus. Get some cream used for atheletes foot and put in on the spots, take a week off from tanning in the beds and when you go back...insist on cleaning the bed yourself and use a good tanning lotion like Spellbound by Designer Skin to even yourself out!
Reply:Yes you can, if the beds have not been properly cleaned with sanitizer. I worked at one of the most popular tanning salons where i live. I have my tanning license to run a tanning salon. you have sunspots. you get it from the UV lights not the tanning bed its self. you can buy a lotion or gel for that, at your local tanning salon or on line. it is where a fungus grows on the skin and stops the uv rays from tanning the skin. some people have this problem but it is the pigment in the skin that wont tan. this doesnt sound like your problem its most likely sunspots
Reply:Yes you can get a fungus..IF the beds are not properly cleaned. I clean the bed before I get in it, even if it says it's cleaned.. I know how some people clean..yuck..

The fungus usually itches a lot though.. I have gotten it from a tanning bed before. It will go away
Reply:yeah you can get it from the goggles, like conjunctivitis, or even the pillows , bec they dont always clean them off!!
Reply:yes.
Reply:Your "private area"? *****, genitalia, box sound better to me.
Reply:i dont think you should be using tanning beds ,they can cause skin cancer , try fake tan .
Reply:yup
Reply:No but I would'nt trust them as they probably cause skin damage.
Reply:you might want to go to the doctor. if it's a fungus you will need oral antibiotics to get rid of it.
Reply:Ok, here's the deal. Yes you can get fungus from tanning beds. Of course you cant really tell if it came from there or somewhere else. You WILL need to see a doctor for a prescription, which comes in the form of a pill. Here's the other thing, it takes FOREVER to go away....

Sorry.
Reply:I have heard you can... I dunno how to get rid of it ...call a docter?
Reply:the spots that wont tan are sun spots...they will never tan.The beds are supposed to be sanitized after every use so it should be safe. You should take a bath after you go tanning just so you can wash the sweat and tanning lotion off,it might make you feel alittle better. You might also be using a lotion thats making your skin irritated,it would suggest trying another kind to be on the safe side ok?Dont go tanning too much sweetie, its so bad for you!you dont want to get skin cancer..my grandfather got it:(
