Is it safe to tan in a tanning bed while you are pregnant?

No, it isn't UV rays are harmful to your skin, that's why it browns. But If those UV rays reach the fetus, it can cause permanent mutations... which would be REALLY bad.

Not 100% sure but the ultra voilet rays can harm so I wouldnt recommend it ... especially in the first 3 months
Reply:NO!!!! Definitely not safe!
Reply:i don't think it is...the UV rays can hurt your baby...so it's not a good idea
Reply:Tanning beds are not safe full stop. They cause skin cancer.

I'm an Aussie %26amp; we are very up to date on skin cancer due to the big hole in the ozone above us....only an idiot in Australia would use a tanning bed. I now live in the UK and everyone uses them here. I have now nursed 4 people dying from skin cancer. The last one was 28yrs old and the cancer started as a small freckle on his thigh spread to his spine and brain.......So stop being so vain and GO pale!
Reply:No way. It should say that inside the sunbed place. The rays can seriously harm/kill your unborn baby.
Reply:I would avoid doing anything even slightly harmful to your body at least for the first trimester. There is no proof that UV rays affect the baby, but there have been some studies that show that greatly raising the temperature of your body during the first trimester could hinder spinal development. You don't want to hinder the development of your baby in any way. Ask your doctor if they think it's safe, but you can find a lot of self-tanners now that are really natural looking and probably safer than cooking yourself. (plus it's better for your skin and lessens your chances of melanoma - afterall you're having a baby and you want to be healthy so you can see that baby grow up)
Reply:god no
